Master Butter Cookie Dough

Use as a base in other recipes. Comes from Woman's Day Specials: Holiday Cookies (2000)

Ingredients

• 2 cups (4 sticks) unsalted butter, softened slightly
• 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• 3 large egg yolks
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 4 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

1. In large bowl, with mixer at high speed, cream butter, sugar, and salt
2. Add egg yolks and vanilla; beat until smooth
3. At low speed, gradually add flour, beating until just incorporated
